Saw the Moonglows at the Beacon Theatre on 96th st.(NYC), with Bobby Lester in 1976 before 6500 people. They brought the house down. There were 24 groups besides them from the doo wop era.
WAS ANYONE THERE??

This was our entertainment.Sitting in of the radio, listening to great voices such as these. True trailblazers of the Rock & Roll era.

@bklynbc Being from Chicago, I had similar experiences. I remember the street corner guys who were highly talented...I remember seeing and thinking the Moonglows were cool and Bobby standing all poised and singing this in his white suit (I believe it was white). These guys voices were their instruments and the modest instruments that was played was merely a red carpet for them to walk on while they performed! : D

Talk about "Blow Harmony"........It just doesn't get better than this. This sound resonates with emotions, richness, harmony, well-articulated words. Yes, Bobby Lester and his Moonglows seemed to have gotten the wrong deals but this was one of the pioneer groups that held it down long before their followers. Get it guys...rest in peace in heaven Bobby.

hey, lilsten up! This is where the Doo Wop and Soul genre really got started. Let me tell you, I was a little kid and loving this and people thought i was crazy too, but you don't get this kindd of harmony and modest background music but voices bigger than life anywhere else. AND to make things better my big sister took me to see them perform at the Regal when I was about 7 years old. Heaven. Bless this posting.
