The electric car will join the company's popular Roadster in showrooms in late 2011. Tesla held a special event on March 26th at the headquarters of CEO Elon Musk's other startup, SpaceX, to show the car to the press.

Maybe if this car does well, other manufacturers will see that there is a large market available and design their own EVs. Once enough companies are making EVs, maybe gas stations will start putting fast charge/battery swap things on their sites. Once THAT happens, it will be the beginning of the end for petroleum based fuels.
