The distinction is overwhelming evidence that the Spears family provided no supervision of their children. e.g. constant media scandals involving both Britney and Lynn Spears (involving drugs, rehab, publicity-stunt marriages, multiple pregnancies, and multiple upskirt nude photos). That family is clearly chaotic. There is not the same evidence (or any evidence, for that matter) of similar chaos in the Palin family. Therefore, you cannot criticize the parents as you can the Spears parents.
