Sony DSC-HX1 Digital Camera - Make A Custom Filter Adapter Ring - Part1

In this video, I will show you how to make your own filter adapter ring for the Sony HX1 camera. This project requires some custom work but it's also very cheap to make. You will need a 55-58mm step up ring. You can find one on Ebay at around $2 USD. I also purchased a 58mm UV filter to put on the adapter ring. This filter I also purchased on Ebay for $2.

The custom part of the project is to glue a thin piece of rubber to the inside of the step up ring. This serves 2 purpose. One is to fill in the gap and the other is to allow the step up ring to fit snug to the Sony lens. With the rubber piece I used, I was able to use sand paper to sand it down to the correct diameter.

Can I use telephoto lens with this?

@felipe05061996 This adapter is mainly used for adding a filter on the lens. It's not meant to add lens to the permanently mounted sony lens on this camera.

I want to do the same ... I guess u have used a 55mm and used a rubber glued for a snug fit..... can i use a 52-58mm and just sand it with my drill ??

@00viraj It's been awhile since I did this, but I think 52 mght be a tight fit and these adapter rings don't give you a lot of materials to work with if you plan on sanding it down. If you pick up some adapter ring for cheap on ebay, then you can try it.
