Neon Magikist lips that used to be in Chicago

Does anyone from the Chicago area remember the big neon Magikist lips that could be seen from the expressways leading into downtown Chicago? This scene from The Blues Brothers is probably the only video footage of these signs. The ones seen here (in the upper right corner) aren't the huge 100-foot ones once seen from the highways, but they bring back memories of when I grew up in the Chicago area and my family would travel downtown.

I remember the "Lips" !!! If you were ever lost on 87th Street, just look for the lips !!!

I remember the sign on 87th and the Dan Ryan. I live in Ohio now, but grew up in Chicago. My daughter used to see that sign and know that we were close to Grandma's house. I miss it, a true Chicago landmark.

I also like your video, I remeber the bright lights of the Oriental, State-Lake, McVickers, Woods, Chicago etc...

Yeah, I remember those, too. Too bad the lips are all gone now. :-(

there used to be a location on state st. right past 87th. it used to be next to rl dukes. ahh the memories

Yeah. The lips by the expressway were HUGE.

There used to be a set of those lips along the Eisenhower between Cicero & Western.

The Great White Way....that strip from what I have heard was loaded with neon signs...you can see a bunch in the picture....and the scene just before your clip shows the Trailways Bus Station. Cool Stuff. I have been trying to dig up more info on the neon, and somewhere on the internet I came up with the Great White Way...for the sign company White Way.
