the groove in that one knife is for when you stab someone the suction will make it harder to pull the knife out so on that knife and lots of bayonets they put those grooves on to allow air in the wound to eliminate the suction and allow you to pull it out quickly and move on.
The grove is for the blood to drain so your knife doesn't get stuck.

the groove in the usmc blade it to let the oxygen in the victims body escape, making it easier to pull back out.
