Barnaby palmer has received critical acclaim both as an orchestral and operatic conductor.

In 2011 Barnaby Palmer was named assistant conductor of the Budapest festival orchestra and participated in that capacity for their seven city European tour.

This past summer he conducted the world premiere of the opera "Casanova" and in November made his American Philharmonic debut with works by Mahler, Brahms, Beethoven and Elgar.

This spring Barnaby will work with the Konzerthausorchester in Berlin and return to the Budapest Festival Orchestra for three European tours.

Summer 2012 he will conduct the world premiere of "Tchaikovsky's Masque" with the Bohemian Opera.

Since 2002 Barnaby has been Artistic Director of San Francisco Lyric Opera and has since conducted over 35 new productions with that organization.




Born in Hong Kong and raised in the Bay Area, Barnaby attended Interlochen Arts Academy for high school, Cleveland institute of music for undergraduate and university of Michigan for graduate studies.

He has studied conducting with Alan Gilbert, Rossen Milanov, Larry Rachleff and Michael Morgan.
