I wanted to do a short video about how I take care of my rats and breed them as feeders for my collection. It's a harsh reality but yes animals do eat other animals and there is little that can be done about it. I care about my rats and their health and treat my breeders as pets. A healthy rat is a good, quality feeder for the snakes in my collection. If you have any questions or feel I left anything out let me know!

  • @jascarboro

I only breed the rats to feed the snakes but yes there are some people out there doing it and making some money.

  • the baby rats you have are rare and go for $25 each as pets.

Around here they are pretty common. A lot of the pet stores ave kinds like this. I just got in a hairless though so hopefully I will be producing those soon.

  • measurementts?

  • @soloherps You know, I had them on my laptop but they aren't on here anymore. I posted a thread on faunaclassifieds under the feed, caging forum with all that so it's on there somewhere. I can't find it though. Under mizztaztic7

  • Nice vid. When baby rats are ready to be weaned but you leave them with the mother is that bad to do for the mother and babies or not really?

  • nice detailed video

  • @mschmied89 thats cool that you have lots where you live good luck with your hairless breeding ...just to let you know hairless mothers have trouble producing milk or sometimes just cant at all so i would recomend placing the babies with another mother with a small litter thats what i did with mine and i works out great also i give you more time to get babys from the hairless since shes not raising them.

  • @mschmied89 thks
