US millionaires ask Congress to 'Raise our taxes'

Nearly 140 millionaires asked a divided US Congress on Wednesday to increase their taxes for the sake of the nation.

"Please do the right thing," the entrepreneurs and business leaders wrote President Barack Obama and congressional leaders, noting that they benefited from a sound economy and now want others to do so. "Raise our taxes."

The letter was signed by 138 members of "Patriotic Millionaires for Fiscal Strength." The group was created a year ago during a failed bid to persuade Congress to end tax cuts for millionaires enacted under Republican former President George W. Bush.

The group is now making the same request of a 12-member congressional "super committee," which is struggling to reach a bipartisan deal to cut the deficit by at least $1.2 trillion over the next decade in order to help put the nation on sound financial footing.

I am a die hard democrat and what Peolsi did turns my stomach. We MUST get money out of politics this is the only way we can have a true voice. Congress no longer reports for us-we all know that. It is the lobby's on the left and right that call the tune they dance to. Shame on those who want less tax on the wealthy how upside down can one be to support that? We require a more just  distribution of taxes or the wealthy in the country will end up with more and more of the nation's GDP. At the present time 10% of the nation's wealthiest control 67% of the nations GDP and the trend is worsening.

Agree!

Most of us know what is wrong (Lobbies buying our our representatives to pass laws for the greedy corporations), some do not want to accept it (extremist and/or political trolls) and others do not understand it. This is what I think Occupy movement is very important.

People do not need to agree with everything, but those that do understand the corruption and injustices, need to gather, (not to join) but to show masses of people against corruption.

One common goal!

They are not asking to raise it to 90% taxes. If you take those 230,000+ and raise their taxes to a FAIR number in comparison with the rest of the population,(we have smart people that can figure this out) then there is no need to keep the greedy greedier and the (wanna) helper helping alone. Just like any other charity, one will want to know where the money goes. Charity won't help much to fix the economy. There needs to be fair and balance regulations and taxes.

Paying more taxes for the idiotic distribution of the budget WILL NOT FIX ANYTHING.

The PREMISE is erroneous. Aside from the fact that they are free to contribute as much money to the IRS as they want to AT ANY TIME!!! No extraordinary rights are required to either give the Fed or pay the Fed more money. MAKE UP SOME SHIT. It's EASY to pay more.

Ask FOX News and the rest of the bias media that DOES NOT report on what they should. Do you really think there is no problem in this country? Focus your anger unto those responsible. Check how Congress can perform inside trading stock (you or I would be jailed for this) and Jack Abramoff buying off public officials This Lobbie explains it even more. Our VOTE mean nothing.
