@edupbeat I've lived on Chicago Avenue just east of Ashland my entire life. Don't try and tell me that I don't know what I am talking about. Your argument is so easy to make. "I am more Chicago then you. I know more about the city then you." type thing. Ive never left the city for more then a week at a time. Your view that every "white, yuppie" person from the northside is racist is completely wrong. You need to get out of your little box you call a world. You're completely generalizing
@DABULLS166 cont...(arrogance of many blacks who hang around wp). you assume I'm some un-educated fool who hasn't experienced the world therefore, I'm being small minded about racsim, blah, blah, blah. you probably assume ive never left the city(lolz) too. i wait on your types everyday(lolz, really am laughing out loud too).
@DABULLS166 reeeeriiiiggght. Can I ask you something? Where you born/raised in chi? Don't lie either & if you try to make that irrelevant, I can tell by your answer you weren't. & who are those "white" friends? The one's in Hyde park(faux liberals)? How bout those racist irish in Beverly? Fuck outta here with that"im the problem" *yawning* bro, i WORK in those restaurants you're talking about! (Buca di bepo, weber grill, epic). Lolz, you truly THINK you know me...
@edupbeat You're correct in saying Chicago is very segregated, but I have plenty of white friends who live past 35th and take the train past there everyday. I also find that those "racist bars" on Rush street are very different from how you describe. I went to dinner the other night on Rush street and I saw a very large amount of diversity. You singling out Wrigleyville just adds to the prejudices. You're a bigger part of the problem by buying into all of the stereotypes.
this is probably the most segregated big city in the country! Til this day, u ride the red line & u KNOW white folks NEVER will ride past 35th street, lol. I hate those racist ass bars on rush street & those fake ass gentrified hoods like Wicker park, Streeterville, etc cause it aint nothing but racist, yuppie, ass white ppl who arent from Chi but call themselves "chicagoans" lol hell, just look at Wrigley field on a summer day, you'd think no black ppl lived here!
Yes 5 years ago Barack Obama was an obscure state senator languishing in the Illinois statehouse. Today, he is President Barack Obama after having raised $750M and crushing the Clinton machine. President Obama is truly a new breed of Black politician. Now what does this post-racial aesthetic portend for the Black community only time will tell. However, Frederick Douglas' 150 year old words ring true today: power cease to nothing without a demand, it never has and it never will.
Thanks Marc for the video tell the truth. I believe people are caught up in a fantasy of this we are one nonsense. Obama makes white folks feel comfortable as evidenced by his continous love for bigot Abraham Lincoln. What I find sad is he loves a man who got shot in the back but a black man that got shot in the back in California, you don't hear a word. Just saying.
