These are sample clips from the 2nd DVD in Ryan Hall's new Deep Half Guard series. Ryan explores this position in amazing detail including entries, grips, sweeps, strategies and more. The project clearly teaches that getting into the Deep Half Guard, the hand, grip and counter fighting along the way is more than half the battle. Ryan breaks down all of his most popular entries, Deep Half variations, counters and much more. The entire series is over 5 hours of instruction on 3 DVDs and is another World Martial Arts exclusive!

  • the hook and the hand don't prevent him from escaping the leg. the 3 pressures of the hook, the hand on the hip, and PINCHING the knees prevent him from escaping the foot.

you don't have to believe the positions work. find ryan and take a private or go to a seminar and ask questions. it's not like he came out of the blue claiming to be the greatest thing since sliced bread. he has legit results as a competitor.....pay attention and you will learn something.

  • Resistance is futile.

  • @joshiedidit

It doesn't seem like you can but I'm above average flexibility and can't ever pull my leg out of deep half.

  • @mastereismaname If you'll notice, with his left hand under his leg like that, he controls his partner's base. So, say this were an MMA match. In order to land blows from that position, his opponent would have to compromise his base. It'd be very easy for Ryan to off-balance him. His opponent then has two options; post out, and recover his base. Or get swept, and lose top position. Both of these prevent damage from strikes in a relatively simple movement.

  • @MrHelmerson Honestly, if you think about it, the hook almost does a well enough job maintaining your partner's hips. Because in order for him to move them, he needs the weight off of them, and on the foot you're hooking. But since you control his base, and your hook puts his own weight on his HIPS, he can't move them. Without knee pressure, however, it's very safe to assume he'd eventually work his way out.

  • fuck those explosions lol, shit was pretty funny

  • that cannon sound fx suprise me

  • ryan hall explains it soo well,

  • A must have ! 5 stars....
