Many of Gateway's programs offer students hands-on training beyond basic classroom instruction. I recently had the opportunity to participate in a simulated emergency response scenario with a team of Gateway Paramedic students at our Health and Emergency Response Occupations (HERO) Center. The HERO Center provides unique hands-on training and learning opportunities for first responder students including it's Human Patient Simulator lab. The METIman simulator allows students to practice life saving techniques on a mannequin that breaths, speaks and responds to their actions.

As we went through the scenario my pulse quickened and I felt like I was a part of a real first responder team helping a patient in need. The exercise highlighted the importance of the training we offer at Gateway and the amazing instructors and students that we have at the college. It was an experience I won't soon forget!
