GOOD FRIDAY CRUCIFIXION 2009, CUTUD San Fernando

CUTUD is located in Barangay San Pedro, San Fernando City, Pampanga, During Good Friday in various parts of the Philippines, hundreds perform self-flagellation as penitence for their sins while tens of devotees have themselves nailed on the cross for the same reason and others as a supreme sacrificial offering in seeking mercy from the Almighty God for the cure of helplessly sick loved ones.

I had the chance to interview the penitents. Their reason for doing this is for gratitude to still be alive because some of them had accidents. Some of them are asking for God's blessings and some of them are asking for forgiveness of sins.

Who can blame them if that's what they believe? And please don't compare this to the terrorists. These penitents aren't killing innocent people, are they?
