This is a part two of a lecture by environmental economist, Pavan Sukhdev, whose speaks eloquently about the economic values of forming a green economy in the world. This portion of his lecture is focused on the successes of national green economy projects in the world, notes the high levels of current subsidization of fossil fuel use and urges a re-allocation of those funds into green energy projects..

Pavan Sukhdev is the Founder-CEO of GIST Advisory, an environmental consulting firm which helps governments and corporations discover, value and manage their impacts on natural and human capital. He was awarded The McCluskey Fellowship by Yale University in 2011. Earlier, he was Special Advisor and Head of the Green Economy Initiative of the United Nations Environmental Program. He was lead author of their "Green Economy Report" and also served as Study Leader for the G8+5 commissioned project on The Economics of Ecosystems and Biodiversity ("TEEB"). In 2008, Sukhdev was appointed to lead TEEB by the EU Com- mission and Germany while still working full time at Deutsche Bank.

A career banker, Pavan took a sabbatical from Deutsche to lead these two environmental projects for UNEP. While at Deutsche Bank, Pavan founded and then chaired Global Markets Centre - Mumbai, a leading-edge front-office offshoring company. Pavan chairs the World Economic Forum's "Global Agenda Council" on Biodiversity, and was a speaker at Davos in 2010 and 2011. He serves on the boards of Conservation International and the Stockholm Resilience Centre.
