It stated at the beginning it's for people who want to have to deal with loved ones at a distance. I could see it being used for therapy purposes as well, so it's not useless. Though, I can say that many of the equipments they post on this youtube page aren't entirely useful. Though, I think it's cool that in japan people are willing to invest in techonology for anything, it almost strikes up the imagination of what will come out next.
