"Srolanh Oun Jea Nich," by Sinn S. Samouth.
Dy Saveth (1944- ) is a renowned Cambodian actress and first Miss Cambodia (1959). She made her break in the 1962's film Kbone Jivit (Raft Life). In her early years Saveth was associated most with productions as Van Chan and Kong Chak but later she worked with Dararath Production and the owner of the production, director Tea Lim Kun, who later directed her in the all time classic 1970 film "Pos Keng Kong" also known as "The Snake King's Wife, " which became twice as popular in foreign countries such as Singapore and Thailand. Dy Saveth opened her own production Sovan Kiri in 1964 and starred in less films per year than in her initial years, probably do to the fact that most directors were aware that she was already running her own production. However, she managed to star in several films throughout the 1960s until the communist takeover in 1975. Saveth took note of all the films she starred in before the communist takeover and claims that she starred in over 100 films. She married Huoy Keng, an actor, producer and film director, during the 1970s. Just as Van Vanak ran his own production company, Huoy Keng and Dy Saveth jointly ran Sovann Kiry. After the Khmer Rouge came to power in 1975, Dy Saveth and Huoy Keng escaped to France together and later moved to Hong Kong. There they separated while Keng continued his film business and became one of Hong Kong's first millionaires.
She returned to Cambodia in 1993 and resumed acting. She now teaches Fine Arts at the Royal University of Phnom Penh.
