@tomtwins29 And let me correct you on that. The Solid Rocket Boosters are recovered, NOT the external tank. Look it up if you don't believe me.

@scienziatapazza The boosters are recovered and its segments are reused up to ~20 times, but the External Tank burns up over the Indian Ocean. Like aleksandarrudic said, thermal protection system to allow the ET to survive reentry would make the system too heavy to launch. Also, that "sound barrier" effect is just the same venting that the tank is doing throughout the video. The "triangular UFO" is flakes of ice ejected from the shuttle orbiter.
I don't think any video of that exists.

@scienziatapazza The External tank is not recovered, it is burnt up on reentry of the atmosphere
