NO if you are standing directly on the pole that Barber shop pole the damn thing can't point to nothing as you are directly at the pole so is should do nothing at all...yes North will stil have North..

The compass would point at the magnetic south pole, which is some 2500 or so kilometers north from the geographical south pole.

I want to go there secret Alien Spaceship buried there...question what does a Compass do there ???probably nothing right?
so sad they have to camp outside, they must have froze to death - almost.
They must know something in that base , so they dont want anyone to find out.
