thats because a wasp infected the caterpillar
the larve lives inside the caterpillar and eats it's way through the caterpillar

i found a strange hairy caterpillar in the forest and brought it back home.
i started raising it cuz i wanted to know what species of moth would emerge.
instead, i got a lot of wasps!! lol
i love wasps very much as well as moths.
