As soon as I got on break I headed towards Tegan. I really didn't know what he wanted to talk about.
He stood outside by the vending machine. His old worn-out baseball cap on his head as he waited paitiently. "Hey," he said.
I nodded, tired from my shift of stocking shelves and whatnot. "Uh..let's go." I led him to the nearby park. I kept my eyes straight ahead as we walked. I didn't know what to say to him. Apart of me felt something for Tegan,apart of me didn't know how I felt.
"So...." his voice droned. "How are you?" He looked at me with such innocent eyes. His blue orbs concerned.
I smiled slightly, "I've been better," I admitted unwillingly. "you?"
"The same actually," he smiled back "I've actually been...."
"What?"
"Nothing, it's kindastupid."
"Tell me." I pressed
"I've been thinking of you, Avery." I looked upat him then.
"What is it with you?"
"What do you mean?" He stopped walking and stood in front of me.
"Why do you say stuff like that to me? "I'm thinking about you". It's like.....I don't know.." I shook my head.
"It's like I love you?" He stared into my eyes.
My brows furrowed. "What? How is that even possible.We barely know each other."
"We've know each other since the first grade Ave. I've loved you since you gave me that horseshoe keychain. The one you found on the playground during recess."
I laughed, remembering how silly and innocent kids can be, How clueless they are when it comes to love.
"Avery?"
Just as I was about to fall into his arms I froze. He loved me?
"Avery?" Tegan repeated, this time waving his hand in front of my face.
"I have to go," I turned and started walking faster than I probably ever had before.
"Avery! Don't runaway from this! You can't run from you're feelings forever!"
His voice was at a mere distance and I slipped into the darkness and returned to the iridescent lights of the grocery store.
