@devivolab "Given the...evidence here...and from multiple sources." There is 0 evidence here. No one even says that we came from chimps. We are supposed to draw imaginary lines to conveniently invisible (how do you tell missing from never existed links?) age ancestry lines based on odd fusions that often occur in nature.. That's their evidence. "Multiple sources"? They're all speculation presented as evidence too, i.e. pseudo science. Give real evidence to show you're only a modified ape man.

@devivolab Tho the evolutionists dearly want us to believe it, Correlation Does Not Imply Causation. Also, 97% similarity sounds, on the surface, like hardly any difference. Show me a chimp that can score 97% as well as a kindergarten child in academic tasks. Show me one that can, 97% as well as people, drive a car, get a credit card, use a computer, make change, write a musical piece or a poem or do a realistic line drawing or solve a calculus problem.
The real differences are vast.

There is an excellent NOVA documentary from PBS entitled "What Darwin Never Knew" which describes in layman terms how genetics and evolution work hand in hand. It can be seen on you tube in it's entirety and on Netflix.
...then we will go to court and fight you using a politically appointed non science trained judde & lawyers. This fallacy also is seen in that about 1 in 1,000 folk have an additional fused chromosome. If 1 is due to ape fusion then why wouldn't the other be if there is only 1 explanation? 3) Incomplete Comparison. Chimp chromosomes are not the same size nor do they have the same type of sequencing as human chromosomes. But that's not mentioned.Only a forced "similarity" in number matters.

If you run a genomic alignment between human and chimp genomes using UCSC Genome Browser, they share about 97% similarity. There are some differences in the position of rare and common variants, CNVs, LINEs, SINEs and other retroviral elements, along with the chromsomal fusion. Humans also contain some pseudogenes which are still active in chimps.
What really set use apart from our chimp cousins and our common ancestors is TIMING of gene expression.

The so called evidence for ape to human, based on a fusion, show the usual use of three of evolutioinary theories 3 favorite logical fallacies: 1) Correlation Does Not Imply Causation. Chimps & tobacco have the same number of chromosomes & you don't even had to fuse any. Birds, bats & bees fly. Snakes & worms look alike. Correlation Does .Not Imply Causation. 2) Fallacy of the Single Cause, in this case, "We see something and only evo can explain it! If you dare to consider any other cause...

Yes yes, being of student of Miguel Hernan and Jamie Robbins, I know of causal inference. BTW, correlation refers to continuous variables , the word you're looking for is association.
Yes, association=/=causation. Causation can't be determined in observational studies without randomization. But given the available evidence here, and from multiple other fields, you can make a strong, cogent argument for it.
BTW, science=/=court room. Different standards for evidence.

This video says, at 2:05, "if we don't find it (fusion) then evolution is wrong.
If we apply this rule to cats (2n=38) and dogs (2n=78) then cats must have 20 fusions or evolution is wrong.
Also, note that a random telemeric fusion is destructive, the result of telemere failure, resulting in cell death. Never will you see a gamete survive such a fusion.
We conclude the first two humans were altered by design from 48 (or 50 to) 46.

Although telomeric fusions may be deleterious 99.99999% of the time, and beneficial 0.00001% of the time, if you multiply 0.00001% by the billions of times telomeric fusions have occured in nature, you have many instances where telomeric fusions were beneticial and may have provided a selective advantage.
