wow that was hard -_-
-
Damn..slow down if this an instructional video or are you showing off?

I love the simplicity of the XD, mines the DuoTone 9 like yours. I like my Glock and my M&P but there's just something about the XD, it just has that "feel" to it.
-
Just got my XD .40 cal, 4". Love it, easy to strip maintain and a great shooter.

@whitedahlia420 yah, when you play with m240b m249s and the smallest thing you shoot is an m4 and piece of crap beretta then yah youll know where im coming from
-
@gacolon14 wow
-
Me and my buddy spent hours trying to take it apart until I looked this up lol we thought the sig was easier... didn't think to pull the trigger lol
-
@wrangomonger - Sure thing, kid.

@wrangomonger - Clear. That is my point. You claimed that this video wasn't a disassembly video and that it is strictly a "field strip" video. Everybody likes to pretend to be an expert on the internet, but thankfully a few of us can set them straight when they state something stupid. Again, crystal clear point.

why do you have to release the slide slowly? these guns are durable and can take a beating. why be so gentle? check my vid out

scottsvalleyphoto answered the question well. It's usually best to ease the slide or bolt forward on any semi auto when not actually chambering a round. The parts were designed to handle wear and tear with the condition that a round was being stripped from the magazine, acting as a brake to slow things down a little while the slide slams home. XDs can handle having the slide slammed shut on an empty chamber, still not a great habit to get into IMO. On 1911s parts can be damaged by that...

Also, step #5 on page 23 of the Springfield XD owners manual specifically states that you should "allow the slide to slowly move forward until the spring tension is released."

That's a 4" Service size XD 9mm in the video. It's the "Bi-tone" version with the stainless slide.
