NOS Headlines - What's in the box?

Je plaatst een filmpje op YouTube en een paar dagen later word je door mensen uit Hollywood benaderd. Dit overkwam de studenten Tim Smit en Thibaut Niels. Het filmpje What's in the Box? is inmiddels meer dan 500.000 keer bekeken op YouTube.

De drieëntwintigjarige Tim, student natuurwetenschappen aan de Radboud Universiteit Nijmegen, maakte het filmpje voor het GoShort filmfestival. Zaterdag 21 maart werden de winnaars bekend gemaakt. Het filmpje won niet, maar werd wel een hit op YouTube.

Concept
Tim heeft samen met een vriend van hem, Thibaut Niels, student Film- en Televisie Wetenschappen aan de Universiteit Utrecht, het concept bedacht. Zij maakten het filmpje What's in the Box? als begin van iets wat uiteindelijk een film of serie moet worden.

De makers zijn onder meer benaderd door 20th Century Fox. Die willen weten hoe het science fictionfilmpje is gemaakt. Het filmpje heeft maar 150 euro gekost.
Op de site www.whatsinthebox.nl kan je proberen het mysterie van de box te achterhalen.

Tim smit:

The movie is about a mysterious box. The box was found by the character in the film who wakes in a world where is no one left (or something like that) He doesn't know how that's possible. The story is about finding out what's happening to the world and it's gonna be clear that the box is going to have a big part in the movie.
