This is my first tutorial, of myself stenciling an image of my cat from a photo that I took. This is a GIMP tutorial, but users of other graphics programs should be able to adapt pretty easily. Please, excuse the atrocious editing... my aim here is to educate (I hope) not neccesarily to create a cinematic masterpiece. Feel free to comment constructively, ask questions, etc. I hope you get something from it.

yo dude, you are amazing:D:D.
I am just starting out stenciling and that helped big time:). When doin the brightness how do u get less of a grainy image, if you understand lol.
Much appreciated!!

Sorry bout the late reply- you can actually do the brightness contrast step a few times, just not taking the contrast to a maximum. I have acheived both clearer, and more abstact results doing this step more than once. Best to always play with it and experiment.
Also you can use paths to select a section that you wish to isolate, and just do the bright.contrast for that bit then "select all" to do the rest. Often good for bringing out details like eyes, that may get lost otherwise.

Well, GIMP is great at creating images, but to print you need a program like Windows Paint. If you have Windows Paint, open the file in question using that, click "file", then in the drop down menu click on "page setup" and play with the "scaling", "orientation" and "centering" until it looks about right. I, personally, prefer to get rid of magins, as I think that they are a waste of space. Once you have done that, press okay, then back in Paint, click "file" and then "print preview" to check.
