8th & Market down 8th to Samson Street, Jewelers' Row, located in the Center City section of Philadelphia is composed of more than 300 retailers, wholesalers, and craftsmen on Sansom Street, between Seventh and Eighth streets, and on Eighth Street between Chestnut & Walnut streets. It is the oldest diamond district in America, & second in size only to the one in New York City. The Row is home to the country's oldest continuously operating diamond shop, wholesaler I. Gansky and Co., which dates to 1851, & many of the area's retail, jewelrymaking & appraisal businesses have been owned by the same families for five generations.
