World War II Second World War Videos

This episode tells the tragic story of the "bridge too far" and the ill-fated Operation Market Garden--the Allied operation that was supposed to end World War II in 1944. Montgomery's rather fanciful conclusion that Market Garden was "90% successful" was hardly supported by the facts. The operation was an unmitigated failure. This episode, from the landmark television series Battlefield, features fascinating archive footage from all over the world. The program includes a review of the political and military situation before the battle, portraits of leaders and commanders, an explanation of weapons and tactics, and the story of the battle itself. Vivid graphics place the battle into the context of the war as a whole. CHAPTERS Introduction * Montgomery's Bold Idea * The Allied Forces * Allied Commanders * Allied Weapons * An Armada of the Air * The German Response * Destination Arnhem Bridge * Approx run time: 1 hr, 45 min. • Since when is the Garant an automatic riffle?

  • Yes the SEMI part is pretty important lol

  • Graphics starting at 00:12 say "PAYLOAD = 60000LB" Sixty thousand pounds should read SIX thousand pounds (6,000LB). One too many zeros. The normal payload was 5,000 pounds (2,300 kg), but the C-47 could carry as much as 6,000 pounds (2,700 kg) or even 7,000 pounds (3,200 kg) in an emergency.

  • I realize that but to make a mistake a 10 year old would catch

  • 17 pounder is not a 75mm gun. It's a 76.2mm.

  • 30 tons or 60,000 pounds. That's ridiculous. A C-141 can't haul that.

  • I would love to see an automatic Garand lol

  • @VERGIS92 Yes I know

  • @HoustonGD it was supposed to say 6000 pounds, about 2.7 tones, but the C 141 is massive, it can haul 30 tones, it weighs about 60 tones empty, and 140 tones fully loaded, fuel+payload

  • 9:15

    1550 REVOLUTIONS per minute ???

    thats a lot of revolutons.

    Stupid worthless nobbs

  • @MrPpavlouk Out of genuine footage?

  • Cromwell VIII? Cromwell IV was more common. The Cromwell VIII was the last variant of the Cromwell cruiser tank.

  • why do they show tigers and king tigers as the tigers?

  • During WW2, self loading rifles such as the M1, the Russian Tokarev, and the German Gewehr 43 were referred to as "automatic" rifles.

  • its a automatic rifle they mean that u dont have to bolt action after every shot

the m1 garand is single shot AUTOMATIC

they dont mean like a machinegun

  • I see what you mean about mistakes now - even I noticed many many mistakes without even looking :/ Still, thanks for the upload :)
