The 1983 Backyard Brawl featured future New York Giants Super Bowl winning quarterback Jeff Hostetler in his senior year at WVU. The 2-1 Pitt Panthers came into 4-0 WVU's home turf for the annual matchup, and it was a beauty. Pitt took a one touchdown lead twice in the game, but The Hoss kept WVU close, and the WVU defense held Pitt scoreless in the second half, setting the stage for the Mountaineers to take the lead late in the game.
