Producer Martin Manulis talks about the "Golden Age of Television," and the challenges of producing live television anthologies, especially his greatest contribution to television, the critically acclaimed anthology, Playhouse 90. Manulis recalled celebrated teleplays like "Requiem for a Heavyweight," and "The Miracle Worker." He also talked about working with Jack Palance, Ed Wynn, Jack Lemmon, Claudette Colbert, Rod Serling, Tad Mosel and JP Miller.

this guy is a giant in the formation of modern television programming. watched all 11 segments---a must-see for anyone curious about how it got from there to here. i had the honor of knowing and working with him---this oral history captures the essence of the man, a true gentleman and astounding wit whose brain was always racing faster than his mouth. personally i'll miss him. television will not so much miss him as forever be in his debt.

I'm very pleased this was recorded before Manulis' death last September {2007}, at age 92. How much important oral history would have been lost if this hadn't been recorded!
