  • It's like the second coming of Jimi Hendrix with John Bonham on drums! Fuck i love it!

  • What's so damned impressive is that his innovative style and display chops not only emerged more than 3 decades ago at a time when nobody else played this way, it's that he was a TEENAGER at the time. A F***ING TEENAGER! EVH is a severely under appreciated TALENT in the annals of rock history.

  • @odgeUK And he was 21yrs-old for Gods sake!!

  • This was only TEN years after bands like Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Sabbath, Free etc were putting out their genre-defining albums. It's incredible to think how far Eddie took guitar in that time, and all with equipment that had been available to those earlier guitarists as well. Forget the flash and tapping, this was Electric Guitar on a whole 'nother level.

  • wankfest

  • @YallSuckTheBig1 ed brought it to a whole new level with his bag of tricks

  • Yes, Eddie was the shit in his time but with that said I think it too simplistic to say he had no peer. Eddie broke nationaly in late 1977 but prior to that there was Gary Moore (Coliseium, Thin Lizzy) Alan Holdsworth (Soft Machine,Tony Williams Lifetime) and on a good night Ritchie Blackmore was just as crazy good, Ronnie Montrose, Neil Schon & David Meniketti were out there burning it up on the west coast, Pat Travers (in Fl.) & Jim McCarty (Cactus) in Mich & Ray Gomez in NY...so there !!

  • Man! Say what you will about the man today or compared to Steve Vai or what ever... There was no one doing this at this time. If UFOs ever started landing on Earth, eventually, over time, people will say, "Oh, another UFO, so what?" The man was from Mars!!!!!!!!! Just as Hendrix... no one did it that way at that time. That's why he is always and will for ever be great. He was first.

  • @NeutralCorner hmm i spose you're right, most people don't think of anything other than tapping when they think of Eddie which is pretty unfair i think. do you like George Lynch?
