Easy Rider, a 1969 American road movie written by Peter Fonda, Dennis Hopper and Terry Southern and directed by Hopper, about two bikers who travel through the American Southwest and South. It stars Fonda, Hopper, and Jack Nicholson and was produced by Fonda. Easy Rider helped spark the New Hollywood phase of filmmaking during the late sixties.
As a landmark counterculture film and "touchstone for a generation" that "captured the national imagination," Easy Rider explores the societal landscape, issues, and tensions in the United States during the 1960s, such as the rise and fall of the hippie movement, drug use, and communal lifestyle.

  • America got more self-criticism in the movies during the 60-70, now it's only "God bless america", "We will do our best, general" (salute).

  • Wasn't Jack Nicholson so sexy. (L)

  • @Shaftsus agreed

  • I watched this last night, I was very sad at the end : ( Fucking red necks I want to make a bit of cash, fly to America and just ride a bike where I feel like....I love libertarianism and that concept would suit the US so much, its a huge country and there is no reason why people can't do what they feel like, let the city people look after the economy, Washington etc, I won't give a shit cuz I'll be on my bike in the middle of nowhere.
