  • The 7D has the bigger HD sensor then the HMC. If you want a camera that's way more versatile go with the HMC150. Although its not as good as the 7D in low light and you have to tinker with the HMC to get all your colors etc right. 7D is idiot proof and is amazing. Does this video happen to mention the lens they used? I'm sure with different lenses would blow the HMC away...

  • @skateemerica134 I don't remember off-hand what focal length lens was used in this test, but I'm pretty sure it was a Canon L-Series Zoom.

  • you guys are making both cameras look bad ......you're fired !

  • @AshKilamande

Because it shoot on a 1/3'' imager, thus reducing the shallowness of the depth of field. Plus the HMC150 has a 28mm equivalent wide-angle lens and is not very conducive for shallow DOF.

What they don't tell you is that the AMC150 has tons of built-in features like a Black Balance, White Balance, Wafeform monitor and Vectograph monitor that the 7D doesn't have. When you are shooting professional footage, you NEED those tools.

  • its clear you need 4:2:2, 7d is 4:2:0

  • so what's the final verdict?

  • @nicolmedia yea but by the time you buy external audio, and audio recorder and even a monitor they are closer in price.

  • with the 7d you got to go buy external audio, an external audio recorder and a monitor.

  • @alanscam there should be data recorded on the lens used for the canon cause when it records it leaves a data file laying around in the recorded sd card/compact card.

  • The Panasonic is easier to use and has better ergonomics, but it's sensor is too small to give that film-like image. The Canon 7D produces a more film like image and has better low-light capabilities.

  • regardless what the canon fanboys might say. The HMC150 clearly wins. More neutral image, no rolling shutter, better retail drawing, no drowning blacks and highlights. The crushing dark areas of the 7D footage makes it kinda useless for later grading.

  • canon 7d good points: More Depth of Feild, Sharper Image due to bigger chip, interchangable lenses, much cheaper, more compact and portable

Panasonic Good Points: No rolling shutter, autofocus, XLR, LCD and viewfinder, longer record times and cheaper media.

I've got a 7D and love it, my 2nd choice was the HMC150 but the 7D is better suited for the work I do.
