  • There have been a few derogatory comments here about Australians/ soldiers, mostly by shirt lifters that vote greens or think online war gaming is the mark of soldiering. There is an unbroken chain of Jungle warfare soldiering in Australian that goes from ww2 till vietnam. Many of our current troops were taught their jungle warfare craft by vietnam veterans. Pound for pound no one goes harder in the 'J' than the Ausie soldier. To the fag critics: "the only thing i feel for you is the recoil".

  • @ghylltarvoke what tactics exactly because I know the americans didn't take ground to measure success in the war but they measured it by body count.

  • @rdv040 what would you know fuck arse?

  • If the Americans had used Aussie tactics in Vietnam, they may have defeated the VC and NVA.

  • Luv the music. What's the title of this instrumental song?

  • Australians fight Hard!

  • @chemochinga Don't forget WW1 mate. The Australian Corps and US troops fought in the Battle of Amiens, Le Hamel and Saint Quentin Canal together in 1918. These three battles were some of the most stunning victories against the Germans of the entire first world war.

  • @rdv040 Fair comment mate, but lets also consider that the entire Australian Army in 1968 had only 46,000 troops in it, so to commit 8,000 in one year is a fair proportion. The US Army and ROK Armies numbered in the vicinity of a millions of troops, & their populations were also much bigger than the Australian population of about 12 million citizens. Let's compare the Aussie involvement in Vietnam to the present UK commitment to Afghanistan, and the losses over 7 and 10 years respectively.

  • There were only just under 8,000 Australian troops in S. Vietnam at the peak of the Vietnam War in 1968, a low number compared to other US allies such as 50,000 South Korean troops. Australians exaggerate their involvement in the Vietnam War: the Australian soldiers were there for political reasons, not military or strategic reasons. Australia's military contribution to the Vietnam War was little more than a token force.

  • @0311SECFOR and entering it.
