I think Mangini is awesome! "Oh no! He doesn't sound JUST like Portnoy!" Well, duh.

I like them both and wish the best for Portnoy and DT and everyone who has brought me such great music over the years. Do I hope that one day Portnoy will come back? Sure. Do I think it'd be cool to hear Kevin play with DT again? Yeah. But lets enjoy what we got now.

@GrowlersHalfLoaded Agreed, but all other elements of DT that I love are there. The songs in general are fantastic. Perhaps on the next album Mangini will be given the chance to shine since he'll be a part of the writing process.

@PurdueRules15 All the places I've read and all the videos I've seen have suggested that Petrucci created a "backbone" for the drums of the song and either left room for embellishments or just agreed when Mangini suggested adding parts.

@Skyrim1Travelers hahaha I don't mind him so much on Dream Theater songs but on basically any cover song they do he is just miserable to listen to. to be perfectly honest he was pretty decent back in the day. Metropolis Part 1 has some crazy vocals but he couldnt reproduce that today let alone Live. It would be nice to see them with a great CONSISTENT Lead Singer that suits the music.
