  • Dan Dickersons announcement of Ernies passing was truly touching. I have only heard it once, and I will never forget it.

  • I grew up with Ernie. *gosh* There was no one better!

  • e1 has their own meomory of ernie, my meomory my first meomory ever was my first game. i was on my way to the ballpark with my dad and i remember him turning on the radio and said, son whatever i forget to teach you about baseball this man can fill in all the blanks. ernie was a true man of baseball and of god.

  • Ernie Harwell is another great announcer that will never be duplicated ever again.. theses announcers theses days are CHITTY

  • it has been a while.. and this still brings me to tears...

    rip is peace..

call me a bastard.. but i still want him here

  • RIP you sweet sweet man.

  • I grew up in Rochester, Mich. in the 50's and 60's. At the age of 10, I fell in love with the Tigers and at 12 got my 1st transistor radio. I remember asking my Dad how the announcer knew where the fans were from that caught the foul balls. He chuckled and said he's just doing that to make the game interesting. And so from 1966 to 2002, I listened to this man on the radio. Thanks, Ernie, from the '12 year old boy' inside this 56 year old man. Thanks for all the memories. RIP, my friend.

  • Ernie, you lived an exemplary life, and now God has called you back to Him. You made Detroit your home, and Detroit made you its' son. I always wished that for at least one year, Santa Claus wasn't the only one to recieve the key to the greatest city in the world. Heck, Ernie was like our summertime Santa Claus! Ernie's great passion for Detroit, the Tigers, and baseball will be forever unmatched. See you on the other side, Ernie (if I'm that lucky!)
