Clever, snappy lyrics, superior to any contemporary broadsheet on the subject. Laing doesn't glamourise the duo for their horrible crimes, or make a joke out of them - unlike a recent movie-maker. Any resemblance to real persons, such as Russell Crowe, is purely coincidental.

"...your sentence shall be put in execution in the usual way, but accompanied with the statutory attendant of the punishment of the crime of murder, viz.- that your body should be publicly dissected and anatomized. And I trust, that if it is ever customary to preserve skeletons, yours will be preserved, in order that posterity may keep in remembrance of your atrocious crimes." -- Lord Justice-Clerk, Christmas Eve 1829
