@gamer4585 It's a backup in case your pager doesn't alert. It's mostly used to alert the community that there will be emergency vehicles in the area.

What does that siren do? Our volley station about 2-3 miles away sounds it off every time they go on call and we can hear it crystal clear.

@gamer4585 The siren alerts volunteer firefighters that there is a call so they can respond to the station. Is that what your asking?

what are those yellow hoses hanging down from the ceilings? I always see those when passing a fire station with the doors up and always wondered what those were for.

@d260 When we turn a truck on, a venting system starts up, those hoses are hooked to the exhaust on the trucks, and they self release when we drive out, sucks up all of the bad fumes when the truck starts.
