The wire is a wound copper bangle straightened so it has a helix form. It is bowed by a grass reed indigenous to the Eastern Cape in South Africa. The reed causes the string and bow to vibrate and the mouth cavity amplifies the harmonics created. There are two drone notes one tone apart, created by the open string and pinching the string with thumb and forefinger for the second note. There is also whistling against the bow itself...very difficult to play as well as Madosini

  • She Gave me Goose bumps at WOMAD. Many moons ago. She told Jimmy Cliff of for not being Happy enough! She is a legend.

  • She is awesome...GOD bless madosini

  • it sounds like a saw blade...
