This is an excerpt from an essay by Richard M. Weaver on the value of studying lost causes in history, and the general good of connecting oneself with a different time and place than one's own.

  • @Lytton333 I believe I was reading this from a collection of Weaver's essays titled "In Defense of Tradition." It is published by Liberty Fund, and I highly recommend the collection. If you do a search for Weaver on Amazon you are likely to find a good selection, for most of his works are still in print. I once met a man who is working on a biography of Weaver, so hopefully we might see more available on the man in coming years.

  • Hello there.

Mr Weaver was a wise man. I already have 'Ideas Have Consequences' by the author, but unfortunatly can't seem to lay my hands on any other writings of his. May I ask where you obtained this essay, and do you know of any other writings available?

    Thanks again.
