Bevan Small has become an overnight internet sensation after the little-known New Zealand cricketer took an astounding catch on the boundary in a domestic T20 match.

According to the video and news reports, the cricketer jumped in the air to not just deny Northern Districts' Brad Wilson a six but also dismiss him by flinging the ball to a teammate before crashing beyond the ropes. His athletic ability broke a vital 74-run partnership.

The video has had thousands of clicks with 21-year-old being appreciated for his efforts to deny what looked like a certain six once dispatched high into the air by the batsman. Interestingly, Small was the 12th man for his team - Central Stags - and though his efforts earned his side a wicket, the match ended in an 8-wicket defeat for his side.

  • "LOOK AT THE WEINERS. LOOK AT THE WEINERS."

  • It was me coming down the bank, thinking I might be able to catch the ball. wow, it just happened a few metres in front of me! Unreal!

  • That is simply amazing!

Check out our Incredible Ball Boy Catch *Spoof* on our channel.

  • @prathameshvaidya: Michael Mason, since we was the one who actually ended up catching the ball. But even if he Bevan Small would have caught it, the scoreboard would have said "caught by sub"

  • @BP23011992 I agree that the ball is dead but one more rule is that player should not keep the ball (to avoid ball tampering) after taking the catch or whatever they has to give the ball to umpire or thrown toward them......

  • amazing

  • Don't come much better than that well done Bevan Small cracking surname.

  • @viksam009 I think that's fine since the catch was completed in the field before they did the high five.

  • Great catch but at 0:18, they give a high five with the fielder still on the other end of the boundary. So does the catch stand ? ha ha
