Yes, Jimmy is an amazing Bassist. Correction, He does not play 6 string or a 4 string. He's one of the first session bassist in Los Angeles to play the 5 string Bass exclusively. I think the reason why people don't know him outside serious music lovers is that he might be way too good. Sound, feel, melodic/ harmonic sense is awesome. Most people only know guys who slap fast...

Nothing to anderstand, just lissen... it's magic! Thanks for this vidéo. Jimmy Jonhson is on of my favorite bassist, can we have a bass solo, I don't anderstand why this master of bass is not really famous... He's one of the greatest with a 5 or 6 strings also with a 4 strings bass.

Jimmy Jonhson is the most melodic ,fluid bass player I've ever heard.He has a very lyrical,calm style.Listen to him on his Flim & the BB's discs and his solos with Al.Especially Pud Wud.

I was there! Great performance, I remember noticing that my mouth fell open when he was playing the solo of "The Devil takes the hindmost". Best gig I've been to in years :)

You can watch in YouTube's High Quality, if you've a fast internet connection. Better picture quality and stereo sound. But it was recorded with a Casio Exilim EX-V8 photo camera. The sounds are bad, but it looks good enough fgor YouTube. I now use the Panasonic SDR-S7.
