I had a little time to start to play around over clocking the I5-750 with the Asus P7P55 LX motherboard. The results were better then I expected.

  • give it 1.28 volts and see if it maintains 4Ghz,stock is 1.25 so if its at 3.6 with the volts that u have now then 4 ghz is possible.

  • @sxyphatboy I think the problem is with the memory controller. I have tried as high as 1.40 volts and it would still have one or two cores that would fail with prime 95 running. I tried pulling out two of the ram chips and running it with 2 but same results. I will have to do some more research to figure out where the problem is. But thank you very much for the advise.

  • @FUzzyBUnnyBOoties i have had that problem too, its the MB, some MB are not good ram overclockers because of their power delivery. Ok so try this: keep all the things that have to do with ram at stock. overclock only the cpu and prevent the memory from overclocking, and try to maintain it at stock settings. For example if i am at 4.0ghz and ram at 879 then i would set my boot strap to a lower mhz like 366 instead of 400, then overclock until the ram is at default or test if ram works at lower mhz

  • @sxyphatboy Yep it is in the memory controller. I had to set my ram down to the lowest setting to get it stable. I was able to bump it up a notch but the timings were not that great so I decided to drop the speed back down and tighten up the timings. I have a new video of it that I am uploading now it should be up in a little while. Thank you for the help.

  • Burning the midnight megahertz, I see. I don't watch cable porn because of the re-runs, so I overclock at night (or so I say). Just keep up the good work :)

  • @zver711 LOL Too funny my friend :-)

  • @johndough813 Thank you. No I haven't changed them up yet. I have to order some more thermal paste before I can play with the other ones. So it is still running the Silver Arrow for now.
