ABOUT THE PIECE: the Piae Cantiones is an old Swedish/Finnish songbook full treasures many of which are familiar to us today. The text for this well-known Epiphany song is by John Mason Neale, the greatest translator of hymns from the Latin into English. Wenceslas was to 10th century Bohemian Duke whose rule was marked by Christian charity and who was martyred for their faith in his early twenties. copyright: Tim Giese
