(NEAR NIOBRARA, NE) The threat of floods are putting people, homes, and property at risk all along the Missouri River, and the residents of Niobrara, Nebraska are also bracing for the worst.
"We've been seeing a lot of things, the river's been coming up day after day," says Matt Colwell, Manager of the Niobrara Valley Golf Course.
The situation is causing concern for the 400 residents of Niobrara.
Sandbagging efforts are planned for Tuesday morning, the incoming tide is could take out the town's low lying areas.
"We're in fear of losing our school house, club house, the golf course will all be gone. It's going to be a major impact to the city, because there'll be no roads to the city," says Colwell.
The frustration is also building in nearby Lazy Acres.
"So far everybody's moving out of here, the corps said they're going to flood us out," says Bill Salmen, Operator of the Blue Moon Resort.
Residents say the small resort community is in the path of destruction. Most homes have been evacuated, but there are many who worry about what will come next.
"It's probably going to wipe everything out, I don't know. We've been here 12 and a half years now, but now we don't have no home, we ain't got no business," says Salmen.
"You come back in probably about 2 weeks from now, and this will be all a lake here," says Colwell.
Many residents are also worried that once everything floods, there could be standing water for months.
