  • What powerplant is in those things? Obviously a 4-stroke and pretty noisy.

  • These brand new DF4DH diesels (Constructed by Dalian) have a Chinese 16V240ZJD diesel motor and an electric transmission. Power output is 2940 kW, tractive effort is 480 kN. These are ultra-robust and reliable diesels, performing in both hot/humid (South) and ultra-cold/dusty (North) circumstances. And the noise is indeed great, even though most Chinese diesels have a very impressive sound! :-D

My favourite diesels, sound-wise, are the DF8B and DF11 though, both of them Qishuyan built... :-)

  • Hello, again, try the 2W tons cargo train when you were here next time! I think you must know, the most poweful locomotive(9600KW from Alstom and Siemens) is running in China now.

  • Yep, on the Da-Qin-Line (大秦线), right? :-)

  • I think the freight train is rare to see, because two DF4C are in the front and one DF4C is in the end.

  • Indeed, here (Jitong line) there is only one daily train like this... :-)

PS: In this video the engines are DF4D's in the "4200" number series, not DF4C's... :-)

  • deux QJ suffisaient largement!!! mais c'est impressionnant.

  • So these are for freight? As far as I know the passenger counterparts use the Dalian Locos 16V280ZJA just like the DF11.

  • Yes! And the new 9600KW C0-C0 is coming soon:)
