"RIVETING... HIGHLY ENTERTAINING" - John Lopez, Vanity Fair

In 2006, as many as 5,000 modern electric cars were destroyed by the major car companies that built them.Today, less than 5 years later, the electric car is back... with a vengeance.

"Revenge Of The Electric Car" follows 4 larger-than-life entrepreneurs at the forefront of the electric car race. First, there's Bob Lutz -- Mr Detroit himself, the cigar-smoking vice-chairman of GM, who has been making gas-guzzling cars his entire career. He is challenged by Elon Musk, the young dot-com maverick billionaire who thinks that he can show Detroit how to build cars with his Silicon Valley-based Tesla Motors. Carlos Ghosn of Nissan-Renault, the desperately smart and ruthless businessman who singlehandedly rescued Nissan from ruin, wants to flood the market with affordable mainstream electric vehicles. And lastly, "Gadget" Abbott, a reverend/designer/engineer is one of thousands of electric car DIY-ers who together may be a force big enough to change the auto industry forever.

"Revenge Of The Electric Car" opens in the US beginning Oct. 21. For more information, please see:

FIY the electric car was also invented about in the same time as the gas car! But because the Governments are involved in the GAS BUSINESS, they where banned not long after they got out on the consumer markets!....Same in 1995 when the electric cars come out again, Bush and withe house sued the California State for making the electric cars...anyways, not long after all the car companies got scared and sued also California and they took of the streets all the electric cars by 2004!....

The guy who made the film knows big oil didn't allow it 20 yrs ago. That's why his 1st film was called "Who killed the electric car?" It's not fair to blame every individual American citizen for the actions of the government. Just like it wouldn't be fair for me to blame you for bad decisions made by your government.

ReVolting, hypocritical, American rubbish. Why does the world tolerate these maniacs. An electric car was viable at least 20 years ago, but big oil didn't allow it. Now big oil is bankrolling EV's for the developed world while the American war machine has secured generations of oil in the middle east and Libya for developing markets in China, India et al which will almost exclusively rely on the "dirty" internal combustion engine.

Here in the UK, an electric car is a no-brainer IF you have a brain.

No road tax. Dirt cheap servicing due to lack of consumables. The uk's price of £1.30 for a litre of "gas" to travel 10 miles at 45.5 UKmpg makes the Nissan leaf, (accomplished 130mile range) the cheapest car to own and run on the road, bar none.

ok, If you excuse a three wheeled collectors bubble car with a motorbike engine.

Myself, I'd like not to "go fill it up", no clutches or gearboxes as sheer luxury.

Battery tech is still in the dark ages & expense in $ & to the environment is not irrelevant. I am not trying to stop technology you fool I am saying that it isn’t where it needs to be & that you don’t understand it at all. I am not surprised you don’t understand my comment on oil & battery potential energy. Gsus dude didn’t you pay attention in high school science? Unbelievable! Because of morons like you we are doomed as a nation. Go look up James Joule & William Rankine.

Seriously you’re quoting yahoo answers & expect me to take you seriously? Ok I think I am done with your trolling. I met with Tesla engineers last weekend & talked about the S which I have a reservation for. The S will weigh more than 4k & they had to use a lot of expensive materials like aluminum & carbon fiber to keep it THAT light. Comparable sedan is on average 1500lbs less with STEEL! The roadster is almost a 1k lbs MORE than its Lotus counterpart! Go do some reading.

Fine be an uncivil Neanderthal. It is painfully obvious how wrapped up in fairytale ideals you are. As a Tesla stock holder on & off since they went IPO & as one of the first people in line for the Tesla S I am very well versed in their business & can tell you that they have been in financial trouble for a long time long before the credit crisis. The huge injection of cash courtesy of the tax payers hasn’t helped all that much. Learn to use Google Finance.
