RecycleMatch is an online marketplace, connecting companies that have waste with companies that can use the materials. We've been called eBay of Recycling, but its really more like eHarmony for commercial waste streams. Ultimately, RecycleMatch makes the business ecosystem more efficient, helping companies save time, money and resources while doing something good for the environment.

For Fortune 500 companies and their supply chains, achieving zero waste is becoming increasingly important. Companies in the US put 214 million tons of materials into landfills each year, at an estimated cost over $22 Billion per year. According to EPA studies, anywhere from 42-68% of those materials can be reused, recycled, or upcycled. Making RecycleMatches reduces unnecessary use of landfills, but it also saves natural resources including energy, water and other raw materials associated with production of virgin materials.

RecycleMatch is an idea whose time has come. In the last decade, Fortune 500 companies like Wal-Mart have put enormous pressure on their supply chains to reduce waste and to be more efficient with resources. Companies struggling to reach zero waste goals, or achieve recycled content goals are seeking solutions to a problem they did not even know they had ten years ago. RecycleMatch helps them reach their goals with our confidential, performance-based platform that is uniquely focused on the business customers needs. We do not take possession of the materials. Similar to eBay, RecycleMatch provides a platform for transactions to take place more efficiently in a fashion that protects all parties. And, like eHarmony, we don't go on the date with you. Once a match is made, the companies involved maintain the relationship and logistical coordination directly.

RecycleMatch is already working. The company was founded in fall of 2009 with a beta site, serving to pilot the concept with real customers. In the first six months, RecycleMatch made successful matches in various industries with materials such as wood, metals, organics, plastics, inks and all sorts of things we hadn't even considered. For instance, we connected a corporation that was tossing hundreds of film-laminated windows with a company that could crush the glass to manufacture counter tops. We matched a company that had 90,000 lbs a week of inedible food waste with a company making biofuels. Our strangest match to date was connecting a company with automotive scraps with a designer who wanted to use them as straps for stylishly oversized purses.

The business ecosystem just got more efficient. That's a good thing for companies looking to save money, and a good thing for the environment. RecycleMatch is turning trash into treasure. Go to www.recyclematch.com and find a match today!
