She's a scheming sociall climber with her husband Simon. The only reason they're backing Bethany is because she's popular with her own reality show and they want some of the action to promote themselves and their money making schemes. By placing herself in the middle of the feud Alex assures herself of airtime and publicity which she and Simon will use to sell their book and make as much money as possible. Make no mistake Alex is not a true friend just a social climbing career opportunist.
