The Scene: New York City's Lower East Side. The Location: Soundcheck before The Baghdaddios play to a capacity crowd. The Occasion: Baghdaddios front man, Kenn Rowell - having earlier promised WFAN's Boomer & Carton producer (and song parody master extraordinaire!) Al Dukes (aka "Al Hughes") that he'd send him a shout out for his recent birthday (Thursday, Sept. 22) - did just that!
This ersatz "Happy Birthday" rendition was performed twice that night: what you see here, during the early soundcheck (with just the soundman and crew standing around) and later, that evening, during the show. Fortunately, it was videotaped both times. SOMEONE'S drunk girlfriend accidentally deleted the show version (no names please: ARGGGHHH!).
OK, so as lame as it might seem, we decided to post this version anyway, as our way of saying "Happy Birthday" to a nice guy, great producer and very funny writer/performer - AND as a way of also saying "Hellooooooooo.........", not just to him but to everyone else at B&C, as well!
Happy Birthday, Al!
