Precipitation

We expect above average precipitation in the Pacific Northwest, portions of the Northern Plains, the Mid-West, down into Kansas, and up into New England. Also expect above average precipitation in and around the Great Lakes. Slightly above average precipitation is likely in the Northwest, portions of the Northern Plains, Western & Southern Kansas, over towards Virginia, and up along the Eastern Seaboard of New England. Near average precipitation, I expect will likely occur generally in the West Central part of the country, into the Colorado area, and then all the way over to the Mid Atlantic. I expect slightly below-below average precipitation in the Southwest, portions of the Southern Plains, and the Southeast.

Temperatures

For temperatures, I expect to see below average temperatures in the Pacific Northwest, portions of the Northern Plains, the Midwest, Northeast Kansas, in and around the Great Lakes, and Western New England. Slightly below average temps are likely in the Northwest, up into Montana, portions of the Northern and Southern Plains, including much of Kansas, down into portions of Oklahoma, and over into the Mid-Atlantic region, and on up through New England. Around average temperatures, I expect will occur in the West Central part of the country, down into portions of the Southern Plains, and over into Southern portions of the Mid-Atlantic region. Slightly above average temperatures are likely in the Southwest, portions of the Southern Plains, Gulf Coast region, and into the Southeast.

Ice Storm Threats

For Ice Storms, I expect an increased threat for ice storms generally in the Midwest, Mid Atlantic, and Southern New England. To be more specific, I can see an increased chance for ice storms from West Central Kansas up towards Chicago and Detroit. Another area for increased chances is from West Central Kansas, over towards Atlanta and South Carolina, adn up towards New York City. More details coming in the final issue, released Early-Mid November.

Snowfall

This Winter is going to be another snowy one. I expect to see above average snowfall in the Pacific Northwest, and in the Northern Plains, down into the Mid West, and down into portions of Kansas. From there, above average precipitation can be expected up towards the Ohio River Valley, in and around the Great Lakes, and up into New England. I do see the possibility to se another "Chicago Blizzard" like we saw last February, impacting near the same areas sometime this Winter. Slightly above average snowfall is likely from the Northwest into South Dakota, down to Western Kansas, and over to the Mid Atlantic, and up into the Eastern Seaboard of New England. Equal chances for above or below average snowfall is expected for the rest of the country.

  • I'd rate this and every other forecast for this winter so far an EPIC FAIL. Usually they're kinda close and have the general ideas right, but even the general ideas/take away haven't gone as planned this winter and likely won't for the whole season. Not hating, I know it's not your fault this has happened this way since everyone else was calling for this too.

  • Winter has been a complete dud here in Central Virginia. Not one flake of snowfall.

  • La Nina winters usually equate to snow in the mountains of Virginia but a complete dud for Richmond. Stinks that El Nino is so darn infrequent.

  • @VCube100 HA! tht happened to me last year. i live in NWI and we get ALOT of lake effect snow. its crazy. but i love it.

  • Almost every prediction for Arkansas is icy weather! We're also kind of in the battlezone! I like missing school, but I don't like the thought of being stuck in my home without power after the deaths in the NJ area.

  • @sendaletterinthemify

    :) BRING ON TEH SNOW!

  • I include Victoria, BC in this forcast because it dips into the states, i want major snow wooo! :)

  • its the same every winter cold

  • every forecast i see is "brutally cold and snowy" for Ohio,

so I am looking forward to see my bus's doors get stuck lol

  • Winter forecast mayhem! We've never seen this many brutal winter forecasts. Every single one is for a horrible snowy winter 2011-2012 almost everywhere.
