translation from fonulyn (livejournal):
How would you describe your music?

Die: It's hard to describe our music with words, but the music comes from what is inside of humans. So that you would properly find out how the music is, we'd hope that you'd buy our CD.

- Why did you decide to use English in your lyrics?

Toshiya: We didn't use English in the beginning. Sometimes our singer uses English in his lyrics, if the intonation or a certain word fits the song. So there's no deep meaning behind using English.

- How do you spend your free time?

Die: Of course most of our time we're on the road. During our free time we all have different ways to relax, for example watcing DVDs or partying with friends.

- Do you rather perform on large arenas or small clubs?

Toshiya: It's not about the capacity and the amount of people, it doesn't matter if the place is big or small. Even if there was only one person in the crowd, it's enough. Of course it's cool to play in a big place for thousands of people who want to hear our music. But whether it's one person or thousand persons, it doesn't matter, as long as there's someone who wants to listen, and I'm very grateful of that.

- Where did you get the inspiration to start playing music?

Die: When we begun, we all admired a band that used a lot of make up, they had spectacular clothes and big hair. At that time the band was maybe our idol, but within time we developed into Dir en grey, which we are today.

- You have performed in Europe already a few years ago. Where did the idea come from?

Toshiya: Everything is about the right timing, both in America and in Europe. We were really interested in working with the agents in question, so that's why we decided to go outside of Asia.

- Were you surprised that you already years ago had fans in Europe and America?

Die: It was a shock. When we went to America and Europe the first time, and our albums weren't in the shops, there still were people in the concerts. It was really mysterious, since we didn't know at all how people had heard about us, we're really grateful about that.
